Description

The Norns were the Three Fates. Their names were Urd, Verdande, and Skuld, and they lorded over the lives and deaths of all, even the Aesir. For each life there they spun a thread - Coarse and drab hued for a mere peasant. For some farmers and freemen it was more brightly colored, and every once in a while, they would spin a thread of pure gold for great hero or prince.
-------------------------
Skuld, the childlike Norn. The youngest of the Three Fates, she herself was called the Childkeeper-she kept all child threads,in her pouch hanging from her waist. The more gentle of her two siblings, she gave more mercy to the children who died, she sent them onto theFields of Everance, where all merchants go,preferring to give them a better afterlife than perhaps the adults.
----------------------
I decided to draw the Three Fates quite young, instead of the old hags like in Hercules ^^.
In this picture,i really wanted a young gentle feel, and an almost childlike look to her.I WANT HER DRESS!!^^.it took me a while to decide what i wanted her to wear,i reckon i'll take just as long with the other two :3.

okay i'm entering a competition [link] from one of my clubbie-wubbies,and we had to draw the Three Fates, or the Norns as they are otherwise known.(for some reason-Hercules came into my mind-you know the Three Fates that tell Hades blah blah he will defeat Zeus blah blah blah-the old hags.Well i'm pretty sure they refer to the same thing, since they use threads to represent peoples lives ^^.read the description ^^)I decided to add my own little whirlwind of description too-second paragraph-thats mine ^^.

i thought Verdande was 'sposed to be spelled "Verdandi"...and Urd was "Urdr". oh well. nice work on the folds in the clothing, but the face and chest are a little too angular...
